If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you have to at least check out Beyoncé’s companion album which is inspired by the amazing movie. “The Lion King: The Gift” features 27 amazing tracks all produced and curated by Queen B herself. And if you take a closer listen you might notice that the album is missing some of the key Lion King songs like Circle of Life and I Just Can’t Wait to Be King. That’s because this is just an album inspired by The Lion King, not the official soundtrack.
Beyoncé has also stated that it’s a ‘Love letter to Africa’. “The Gift” features songs by Beyoncé, Jay Z, Donald Glover (Childish Gambino), and Pharrell Williams. And there’s even a little feature by Blue Ivy on the song “Brown Skin Girl” of which the music video was shot at the sacred Havasu Falls on the Havasupai Indian Reservation in the Grand Canyon. Beyoncé also reached out to the Havasupai Tribe, who happily gave her their blessings to shoot the music video there. They said “Knowing that Beyoncé advocates for the preservation of water rights around the world, we were particularly pleased to be able to accommodate her request”.
